Volunteer Orientations are optional, but they provide an opportunity to learn more about our agency before filling out our volunteer application. The next volunteer orientation is: Saturday, June 27th: 3 PM to 5 PM at the cafe in Barnes & Noble at Greece Ridge Mall
Here are some of the volunteer positions we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting volunteers to assist with teaching basic computer skills using Microsoft Office. If you are proficient with these programs, we can train you to work with individuals and small groups who have ASD. For many of these clients, the computer is a tool that helps facilitate communication when verbal language is difficult. We are recruiting artistic volunteers to assist with art therapy and art lessons. If you have taken an art class such as drawing, painting, sculpture, or graphic design then you have a lot to share with individuals who are trying to interpret the world they live in and to communicate their emotions. We need Office Assistants to organize paperwork, document and keep track of correspondence, print and mail event invitations and newsletters, and make sure that incoming calls and emails are routed to the appropriate board or staff member. We need volunteers who will maintain confidentiality guidelines and who are reliable and trustworthy. Event Coordinator: If you enjoy meeting new people and making exciting things happen, this volunteer position will be perfect for you. We're looking for a few people who have experience coordinating small or large events that require catering, planning and purchasing supplies, registering attendees, communicating with staff and with event sponsors, and organizing volunteers and community members who are participating in the event. Looking for Event Decorators! We have several exciting events coming up and we need volunteers who can decorate and set-up for these special occasions. We have a large health fair, an art gallery exhibition, several events on Oct. 24th, an auction, and a huge family event in August. I'm sure we'll think of more events in the next few weeks! Most of our new events with be for our social recreation program for youth and young adults, and most of these will require creative design and decor. If you have a good eye for aesthetics and can be creative with a limited budget, we need your help! This is a great volunteer position for someone who can't commit to a weekly volunteer position, but can look at our calendar or email alert to see if they are free on any of the event days that month. |
