From the moment they are born, we start imagining their future. For families of a child with autism imagining their child’s future is clouded by society’s misconceptions their abilities, hampered by the lack of individualized integration services, and hidden behind the physical and emotional walls that result from developmental disabilities.

Children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders can break through the walls that hold them back from independence and a future of possibilities…a future with opportunities. However, they need our help supporting them along the way. For hundreds of youth and young adults in Monroe County who have autism independence seems to be out of reach because no one thought they were capable of independent living. So they live in group homes or depend on full-time caregivers. Yet, the reality is that they are usually capable of learning the valuable skills that allow them to have independence. They are fully capable of developing life goals and using their skills and talents to work towards those goals.

In supporting our mission, you help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders be able to realize their full abilities, live independently when possible, work or volunteer successfully, and learn the social and communication skills they need to function well in society.

As the only local resource families and young people with ASD have for social integration services, we need your support to ensure local access to programs, enable us to educate the community, and be able to provide the support services these young people need to live rich full lives. And imagine their futures…brighter!
